Jews Then and Now: History and Identity

In these grades, the students will begin to explore and understand the span of Jewish history, comparative religion and what it means to identify as Jewish and as a Jewish teen. 

Sixth Grade:  Using History of the Jewish People Vol. 1: Ancient Israel to 1880s America students delve into ancient Israel, the diaspora and how it relates to their modern lives.

Seventh Grade: Using History of the Jewish People Vol. 1: Ancient Israel to 1880s America students delve into ancient Israel, the diaspora and how it relates to their modern lives.

Eighth Grade: Students will explore current events through a Jewish lens. They will discuss what they believe, and what Judaism says about a variety of topics. Past conversations have discussed NFL player protests during the national anthem, and how do we decide who to give aid to (using Puerto Rico, the wildfires in Northern California, and Hurricane Harvey as examples.
