Festival of Lights 2011 Fun Facts:

~No tickets? Wristbands? What does that mean?

Like last year, in an effort to make the festival a simpler, more pleasant experience, we are selling all inclusive, all access wristbands for the kids.
For $15, you can purchase a wristband which will admit your child to everything happening at the Festival: all class & partners booths including carnival games, crafts, the petting zoo, the sports zone, lively concert stage, face painting, dreidel spinning and more.

~Will there be food to eat?

YES! Senor Corn will be serving delicious kosher hot dogs, veggie dogs and grilled corn as well as sodas, water and lemonade. In addition there will be a bake sale with both sweet and savory items, latkes and coffee just in case moms and dads need a warm caffeine boost.

~Do I need to bring cash or will you take credit cards?

YES and YES! Cash will be necessary for all food items. We accept Mastercard and Visa for wristbands, boutique items, and Scholastic book fair items.

~How great that some of the proceeds are going to SOVA this year. What else can I do to help?

Bring a can (or a bag of cans) of food to put in our SOVA bins. If you forget your can, we will be selling them for $1 at the front entrance. We will bring all donated cans to SOVA to help needy families begin 2011 with a little more in their cupboard.

~Will my kids be going home with cheap plastic toys that will invariably end up in pieces in my car and then in a landfill for the rest of eternity?

NO! This year your kids will receive a “SIJCC Festival of Lights Passport.” They will receive stickers or stamps at each game booth to put in their passports and will have the opportunity to decorate them as they please. On the way out of the festival, each kid will receive a book to take home. Green and Educational!!!

~Do I get to hear the Hollow Trees and other fabulous bands on the stage this year?

YES! The line-up this year is stellar and includes: The Hollow Trees, Eugene Edwards Band, The Neighborhood Bullys, Alana Banana Band, magic by Ryan Majestic, the Hanukkah story by the SIJCC’s own Rebecca Martin, and everyone’s favorite pre-teen boy bands – Tru-Fight, Starlight Radio and Ghouls.

~Will there be an opportunity to buy some holiday gifts at the festival this year?

YES! Our boutique will feature Boards 2 Bags, Gamine, Distinque, JPark, Kaganville Woodworks, Little Dudes Only, Cameo Clothing, JJKO Designs, My Tote and Fleurt Lingerie.

In addition, this year we will have a Scholastic book booth. The SIJCC earns points towards buying books for the school with each sale we make!
