SIJCC Preschool Admissions
In General, the SIJCC is looking for families that will be a good fit for our center; those who believe in our mission, vision, and philosophy. The first step for families interested in the SIJCC Preschool is to get on our Registration List via our website (process detailed below). The next step is to come to one of our Open Houses (click the “Open House” button to the left for more info)) and explore our website to gather more information about our preschool. Families are then encouraged to participate in some of our center’s activities and events (more information below and elsewhere on the website).
The following are some of the criteria considered when determining enrollment into the preschool program:
- Participation in the SIJCC programs and community. This includes:
- Participation in Friday morning Shabbat, monthly community events, programs, & holidays.
- Participation in the Parent and Me program*
- Participation & volunteerism in our annual fundraising (direct mail & major events).
- Letters of support from friends and family members who have an existing relationship to the SIJCC.
- Siblings/Alumni of the SIJCC are given priority.
*Participation in Parent and Me does not guarantee admission to the preschool program. It is one way to develop a relationship to the center.
SIJCC Preschool Registration Process
- Registrations for the SIJCC Preschool are accepted year round and may be submitted any time after the birth of your child. This is done through our website on the “Preschool Registration Form” (click on the button to the left at the top). To submit the form you must pay a $40 administrative processing fee. You will be asked for credit card information on the form to pay this fee. You will be sent a automatic e-mail confirmation of the credit card transaction and a informational e-mail from the SIJCC confirming your registration.
- Once the form and payment are received, the information goes onto the Registration List and is filed. Please understand that we receive many registration forms and it is not a guarantee for enrollment.
- Each year in January, those who are on the Preschool Registration List will receive a letter/email asking them to confirm their interest in the SIJCC Preschool. We need to receive a reply by the date indicated or your child will be removed from the Registration List. If you do not receive a letter, please contact us.
- In March we will begin the process of notifying families of space availability in the school for the coming fall.
- Once siblings and/or children of alumni parents are placed in available spaces, any additional openings are filled from the Registration List. Every effort is made to provide gender and age balance allowing for an adequate amount of peer choices in all of our programs.
- Those on the registration list not offered placement will be notified via mail and we ask that the parents indicate whether or not they wish to remain on the Registration List. Should an opening occur after our enrollment period, families expressing an interest to remain on the Registration List will be given priority for future openings.
