What to expect:

A night of sharing and learning from the wealth of knowledge that exists in our Jewish community! Try out new ways to move your body. Absorb completely new information. Even make some new friends. Dive into 5781 with newness and fullness in your heart, mind, and soul.

Plus:

BYOA (A-nything): Drinks, Kids, Notetaking devices, Costumes, Puppies, Pajamas — it’s your house, party however you want! A ler-ned party is the best kind of party. Come one come all!

Who:

All are welcome! We’ll be learning from artists and teachers, activists and rabbis, scholars, jokesters, and anyone/everyone else. If YOU have particular skills, interesting knowledge, fun talents, special cultural or personal practices, or anything you feel excited to share, we invite you to teach on this night! Everyone has something worth sharing - whether it’s a favorite family recipe, or your last thesis paper, we want to lift it up, and lift each other in the process.

Examples of topics we have thus far: Gut health, Talmud, Kosher seafood, Jungian Parenting, Dreams, Dance parties, Autism, Public speaking — and the teachers keep rolling in!

To offer something during the teach-in, email EastSideJews@sijcc.net

Please include:

  • 1-2 sentence description of what you’d like to share

  • Title (if you have one)

  • Length of time you’ll be sharing (5 - 20minutes)

  • If you have other evening commitments and need to present at a specific time.

Where:

ZOOM -  REGISTER HERE

When:

Saturday, Oct. 10, 8 - late, or 10pm, or whenever you turn in for the night!

Why:

On Simchat Torah we come to the end, and also the beginning, of our annual torah reading cycle. We get to CELEBRATE all we have learned and experienced for the year, as we embark on doing it all over again, but differently; more wise, more confused, more questioning, more certain. It’s more important than ever that we honor each other’s abilities, and willingness to learn together, as we enter (an already challenging) 5781.
