Calling all Mah Jongg players! Come join us at SIJCC for a laid-back night of tiles, strategy, and community.
Whether you're a regular player or just brushing up your game, we’d love to have you at the table. If you’ve got a Mah Jongg set at home, bring it along to help us keep more games going.
Let’s shuffle, build walls, and play a few great rounds together!

Learn How to Play Mah Jongg
A 4-Part Beginner Series at SIJCC
Learn about the history of Mah Jongg (and how it became known as a Jewish-American pastime), the basics of the American Mah Jongg set, card, and rules for playing, skills and strategies for game play, and more! By the end of the four lessons, you and your friends with have the foundation to play on your own!
IMPORTANT: All newbie attendees should plan to be present at the first lesson, as the second lesson will delve into strategy.
By the end of the series, you’ll be ready to join our monthly Mahjong nights!

Meet Your Teachers:
Beth Rabin is a JCC preschool alumni mom and has taught several groups of beginning mah jongg students. She is close to achieving her goal of a strong mah jongg presence on the Eastside.
Rebecca Halpin is a Bar/Bat Mitzvah party planner who lives on the westside but has been involved with the SIJCC for over 15 years; in fact, she planned the first ever Bat Mitzvah in the Box! She learned Mah Jongg at the age of 7 and enjoys teaching beginners and advanced students all over Los Angeles, both privately and in group settings.
