The importance of this election cannot be understated. In Los Angeles, between massive fires, growing homelessness, and the spread of COVID, we know that lives and the future of our planet are at stake. Over the last few weeks, the democracy defense movement has been growing. Whether you have been phonebanking, closely following the news, showing up to marches and rallies, wading through political discussions with friends and family, or the myriad of other ways to engage with this unavoidably political moment — now is the time to do more.

As an extension of our Political Education offerings, the East Side Jews Activist Collective will be running an adapted #CountOnUS & Frontline democracy defender training for the SIJCC & ESJ community. This training, based on the social view of people power, will highlight the stakes of this moment, breakdown the theory of non-cooperation, and explain WHAT YOU CAN DO. This workshop will prepare individuals to take action: whether that’s day-of-election text banking, pressuring your representatives, showing up to polling places on November 3rd, or participating in a general strike with millions of others to defend democracy.

Hosted by East Side Jews Activist Collective (ESJAC)

To attend this training, please fill out the Interest form below. After submitting, you will be directed to a Zoom registration link. You must register via both the form below and Zoom to attend Monday night’s training.

ESJAC Political Ed cohort is focused on bringing communal learning to the East Side Jews & SIJCC community. This newly formed, constantly growing, radical minyan-ish group is excited to dive into research, essays, movies, and more, to explore the Jewish relationship to activism in modern political history. All ages and backgrounds are encouraged to join!
